After raising a family and living in Africa and Asia for over fourteen
years, in 1987 I decided to pursue a long dream of having a college
degree. Once I started, I developed a thirst for knowledge that led to
several college degrees. I even gave serious thought to completing

Stop, look no further! The
Search for Scholarships works.
Through the Andrew's System,
I have earned a very special
grant that will be paying for my
entire education; tuition and
books! Yes, tuition and books,
for all four years!
approaching sixty years of age, I needed to put my education to work. I developed a careful
plan and was able to pay off my outstanding debt in five years.
In the process of teaching and counseling at community colleges, the seeds for creating a
scholarship class started to germinate, and by 1998, I was teaching my first scholarship class.
Since then I have taught the class every semester. There were many scholarship books that I
used in the classroom as texts, but none provided all of the necessary elements.
Out of necessity, I wrote my own book and companion portfolio a couple of years ago. There
have now been several printings as a result of constant upgrades. My students admit that the
proper method is a lot of work, but there are a lot of “happy campers” when the scholarships start
rolling in. A number of students have also written that the time management and
organizational skills learned in the class have made a big difference in their other courses.
Success is in the system – knowing the rules of the game produces winners.
